A course focused around painting still life arrangements as the way to understand and use acrylic paints.
Beginning painters receive direct instruction and painting experiences to acquaint them with basic acrylic painting methods, while Intermediate painters work more independently from the still-life arrangements or other subject matter.
Topics: Orientation to Acrylics, Basic Color Theory, Composition, and Brushwork.
• Intermediate students with their own acrylic supplies pay a reduced fee
Plein Air Primer
Thursdays 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. $125 Materials included
March 12th – April 2nd (April 9th) 4 class sessions + 1 Bonus
Plein Air sketching and painting is a direct method of painting “on the spot” for the artistic effects this approach provides, and this course is focused around learning the method as the means for plein air painting or sketching on your own. The sessions will feature a combination of both drawing and painting experiences.
Topics: Approaches and Strategies, Basic Color Theory, and Composition.
Saturdays 9:30 – 12 noon $20 a session
(pre-paid in blocks of 2)
This is a modified “open studio” environment where artists pursue their individual two-dimensional artistic interests in a mutually supportive learning environment. The creative paths of past participants have included exploration into personal imagery, investigations of oil pastel and watercolor approaches, and working from photographic references.
The studio provides a taboret cabinet for table top for materials and easel or drawing table – depending on the needs of the participant. There is limited storage available PRN.
